A rare and elegant pair of walnut bookcases, distinguished by their slender proportions and shallow depth. The glass-paneled doors are embellished with refined carvings featuring vegetal motifs and scrolls, executed with a delicate decorative touch. Preserved in a splendid first patina, they are a refined expression of Neapolitan cabinetmaking of the early nineteenth century,—all the more notable for the fact that the original pair remains intact. Awaiting restoration.
Naples, Charles X period, circa 1830.
