Gianfranco Frattini, pair of armchairs model 849, produced by Cassina, 1955. The 849 chair won the design award 'Compasso d'Oro' in 1956.

Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was an Italian designer and architect. Similarly to many other architects, Frattini became an interior and industrial designer because he missed the specific furnishings for his buildings. Frattini was a very skilled woodworker and was a student of Gio Ponti. His style can be defined by its architectural structure and playful lines.
